Chinatown to Little India
Today was amazing. I finally got to be a tourist and see some Buddhist and Hindu Temples. My roommate and I went to Chinatown which was super busy and a lot of shopping. I bought a tiny Jade colored Buddha and haggled it down from $24 to $12 ahahaha.
Little India was also really cool to experience as well. It was like we were in completely different country. We ate at a vegetarian restaurant and had no idea what anything was but it ended up being extremely good.
Now I can’t wait to go to the botanical gardens and night safari!
RAINY DAY
Today I experienced my first rain/thunderstorm in Singapore. It absolutely SUCKED! My flip-flops have zero traction and I kept slipping and sliding all over the tile and pavement.
Asia is so unpredictable with rainstorms because it can be sunny one minute and then completely dark the next. I realized that it was about to rain while my flatmates and I were sitting at the bus stop and the dark clouds casted over us. By that time it was too late to go back for an umbrella. Then, sure enough, as soon as we got onto the bus we saw lighting and heard thunder, then it started to pour.
Luckily, my first casting was with most of my flatmates. However, tension and drama erupted on the bus. A few people were relying on others to find the way, without helping at all. A few of the guys began arguing and it stressed everyone out.
Thankfully, we got there but it was still pouring rain and I had an extremely important casting afterwards. They requested that my hair needs to be straight, so I had to improvise and put a grocery bag over my head like a shower cap. Yes, ghetto but it seemed to help.
Lucky for me, the important casting got moved to 5pm instead of 2:30pm, so I had time to go back to the apartment and freshen up. Although, as soon as I got home my booker called me and said that I had another casting at 4.
I’m glad to be busy but man it sucks walking in a tight dress with flip-flops in the rain.
